Skilled OT Intervention

Following initial evaluations, the therapist and family work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan with goals to address during therapy. From school readiness to self care, OT interventions include preparatory and occupation based interventions to help maximize your child’s participation and performance in all of life’s meaningful activities.

School Readiness

OT can facilitate participation and performance in school readiness by addressing fine motor, visual motor and perceptual skills that contribute to challenges in academic routines. OT sessions can also address sensory processing/regulation challenges to facilitate attention and behavior in the school setting.

Intervention through Play

OT sessions use play as a vehicle to address a variety of skills in a fun and engaging way. From obstacle courses to messy play at the table, kids will use all of their senses to explore play, meet their sensory needs, and learn new skills each week in OT!

Activities of Daily Living (ADL)

OT can facilitate independence in ADL by addressing motor deficits and sensory processing challenges that interfere with their participation in dressing, grooming, toileting and feeding routines. OT can also recommend adaptive equipment or activity modifications to help maximize your child’s independence in ADL.

Home Exercise Programs (HEP)

OT intervention plans include individualized HEP to help parents maximize therapy gains and support generalization of skills from the clinic to home/community settings.
